WHAT TO EXPECT
WELCOME
We are delighted and honored that you have selected Blush as the design firm for your project. As we begin this journey with you, we want you to keep a few things in mind.
You are our sole focus whenever we are working on your project. No multi-tasking, no sidetracking. Just you. That's simply how we believe our clients deserve to be treated.
Your needs and wants for your home, the end result, and the process of the project itself are important to us. We do everything humanly possible to ensure a successful project and an end result that you will love.
Your project will not be problem-free. It's the nature of the beast. That is why we commit to communicating clearly and openly with you and to problem-solving each issue. We will never present you with a problem without also presenting a solution.
The design process is exciting and emotional. Expect to be amazed and awed by the beauty of your space and don't be surprised if we are true friends by the end of your project. I can't wait to know you better and to create beauty in your space.
Sincerely yours,
Jeanelle Ditto
PROCESS
1. GET TO KNOW YOU
THE PHONE CALL
After you text us for a call, we'll chat by phone to explore whether we should work together on your project. Among other things, we will discuss your project, deadline, and budget.
2. SITE VISIT & MEASURE
THE MEET-UP
We’ll meet with you at your home, place of business, etc., for an initial consultation. At this meeting, we will look at the space(s) to be designed, the pieces to be included in the design, review design needs and style, go over any available architectural drawings, and finalize the budget.
3. DESIGN PLAN & PRESENTATION
THE PLAN
We will create a design plan based on what we have learned from you, as well as our own creative ideas. This typically takes 6 weeks from the initial visit, although it may take longer depending on the size of the project. We will then present our design to all decision-makers.
4. IMPLEMENTATION
THE KICK-OFF
Once you’ve approved the final design and proposal, furnishings and materials are ordered and all work is scheduled. Depending on the scope of your project, expect a few weeks to a few months for completion of construction and delivery of all furnishings.
5. INSTALLATION & ACCESSORIES
THE REVEAL
Once all items are in and have been fully inspected, we will schedule white glove delivery of all furniture and large accessories and rugs, as well as professional window treatment installation.
6. STAGING & PHOTOGRAPHY
THE PHOTOSHOOT
On the Final Installation Day, our team will be present to reveal your new space. At this time, we will also arrange to photograph the project. We are proud of our work, and we know you'll be beaming with pride when you see your newly updated home.
THIS IS IMPORTANT
FAQS WHEN WORKING WITH US
1. Contractors: We have relationships with trusted contractors, or we can work with one of yours. Our contract and payment is separate from that of the contractor.
2. Deadlines: We need you to communicate any deadline expectations upfront. This includes out-of-town guests, holiday events, an upcoming party, etc. We will let you know if the deadline is reasonable; however, even if it appears reasonable at first, we cannot absolutely guarantee the project will be done by the deadline.
3. Decisions & Changes: Additional requests or changes during the project may increase the cost and completion time for your project. Completion time is also affected by the time you take to communicate your decisions to the design team. Timely responses are always best.
4. Updates: We will keep you updated on the progress of orders and projects and share the lead times that we are given from our vendors. This information may not always be accurate, and it may not always be what you wish to hear. We will do our very best to move things along as quickly as possible.
5. Dye Lots: If an exact color is required, we will order a cutting of the current stock for approval. This step adds time to the order but may prevent a major disappointment. Current dye lots may not match a sample exactly and there is a 16% acceptable tolerance level in the fabric industry.
6. Coordination of Colors and Samples: The colors of coordinating wallpaper and fabric seldom match. Due to the difference between fabric and paper, colors print differently.
7. Leather: There are many finishes on leather. We want you to understand the care and marring properties of your selection. The most expensive leathers are not treated and do show marks, oil from hands, etc. This leather takes more care as it develops its patina.
8. Carpet: Carpet is a fabric and requires care. Stain protection does not indicate that the carpet will not get dirty. It means that the carpet releases some stains easily. Seams, footprints and vacuum marks will show differently in each of them.
9. Lead Time: Add an extra four weeks to any product’s estimated delivery time. It will always take longer than originally estimated.
10. Back Orders: Factories make a certain number of items on a schedule. An item may be out of stock and on back order. Usually, the factory will give us an expected ship date. There is no guarantee that the date will be accurate. We will keep you informed and give you options.
11. Discontinued Items: There will be times when a selected item is no longer available. While it is a disappointment and an inconvenience, we will find acceptable replacements and solutions.
12. Custom Orders: Once you commit to a custom item and order it, you own it and cannot return it.
13. Restocking Charges and Cancellations: Sometimes a factory will allow non-custom merchandise to be returned with a restocking fee. This fee ranges from 10% to 60%, plus shipping, to return the item.
14. Freight Damage: Merchandise may be damaged during shipment. Resolution may be provided in the form of discounts, pick up and reshipping of the item, or local repair. The factory usually makes this decision. We will resolve this in a timely manner.
15. Freight Charges: Charges for delivery from manufacturer can vary based on fuel costs and surcharges at any given time. Our proposal to you includes an estimate of freight costs. Any increase will be invoiced to you once we receive the freight bill. The same is true of shipping charges.
16. Delivery Charges: Delivery charges to your project site are based on the number of items being delivered, the number of people needed, and your location. If the items need to be stored at a warehouse long-term, storage fees will apply. Estimated delivery and storage fees are included in your proposal. Any fees greater than that will be charged to you.
17. Installations: Our office will schedule installations and deliveries. Often one of us will be at the installation and/or delivery. This varies depending on your project and will be explained to you ahead of time so there are no surprises.
